Lynford Aboretum - Three fly over Hawfinch, displaying Siskin and two Egyptian Geese in a tree were the highlights.

Olley's farm, Thetford - Despite ideal conditions and fantastic weather a couple of hours waiting failed to reveal a Goshawk. Compensation in the form of Woodlark, Stonechat and three Crossbill were enjoyed.
Lakenheath RSPB - A superb site with the over-wintering Great Grey Shrike in the carpark, a fine pair of Garganey on the lake, booming Bittern, Bearded Tit plenty of Marsh Harrier and a brief view of one of two Common Crane.

Elsewhere in the Brecks there were two distant Stone Curlew.

Great Grey Shrike, Bucks
The discovery of a 1st-winter Great Grey Shrike twenty minutes from home was enough to draw me out of the county in to the Ivinghoe hills, Buckinghamshire. It showed very well at times in the autumn sunshine, but disaster happened when the cameras CF card became full just as it caught a shrew-type-thingy. Ho-hum ...
This bird was very actively hunting - it chased and failed to catch a Blue Tit.

Norfolk, 8th March 2007
Spring has truely arrived with the Sun, at last, getting higher as each day passes. The Barn Owl is one of those birds which never ceases to thrill. This one was hunting over Dersingham Bog.

A diversion to Grimes Graves in the Brecks to see a Great-grey Shrike. The £2.70 addmission fee to this English Heritage site was a shock to the system though. However, for our money, we did go down one of the neolithic flint mines - which was nice. There were a few Woodlark singing over the clear-fell areas whilst skylark could be heard over the more open grasslands. No prize-winning image here as the bird would not allow close approach.

Great Grey Shrike in Hertfordshire
A couple of digiscoped images of a Great Grey Shrike that spent a few days near Model Farm, Langleybury. It took a Long-tailed Tit while I was there.
